Welcome!

So, it was 2023. We were talking about sending out the annual holiday letter. You know the one. It's about a page of printed text, maybe a picture or two, detailing the family's events of the last year. Those are lovely, but being the person that I am, I wanted to do something a bit more creative. So, with the help of the family, we started drawing, and sketching, and painting, and typing, and putting together a tiny little zine that was intended to be sent out in lieu of that letter (on actual dead trees using something called the Postal Service).

Being the ambitious (and admittedly naive person) that I am, I'd even started laying out plans for future zines. In an act of wild hubris, I collected our works in a folder labeled "Davidson Zine, 2023, Q4". As if I'd be releasing more than one per year! What a madman!

But… life happens. I was hoping for 16 printed pages. Things get busy and creative work gets set aside to do the necessary work of life, and we never fully completed our first edition.

Rather than throw away all the time and effort, we are instead abandoning the printed form and sharing what was completed here, live on the web. And who knows, maybe as the spirit moves us, we may add to this collection.

On this site, you'll find a set of pages to browse either on the left (on big screens) or the bottom (on little screens). Below each image I've transcribed any text in the image or tried to include a reasonable description of the image content if in contains no text. Everything here was made in the real word (or as I call it, "meat space"), without the aid of AI. It may not be much, but it is real art by real people.
